Join us for an inspiring trip to Porvoo, the historic city of Finland’s national poet, Johan Ludvig Runeberg. This journey takes you through the heart of Finnish history, blending beautiful architecture with literary legacy.
Our day begins with a guided walk in Old Porvoo, where we explore the cobblestone streets and learn about Runeberg’s life during the 40 years he resided here. Afterward, we enjoy a premium lunch at the atmospheric RUNO Hotel, followed by a chance to browse the city’s famous boutiques and handicraft shops.
The highlight of the afternoon is a visit to the J.L. Runeberg Home Museum. Here, we are welcomed by the museum’s own expert guide, who will provide an authentic and intimate look into the poet family’s daily life and history. Before leaving, make sure to visit the museum shop to find Fredrika Runeberg’s celebrated cookbook! We wrap up our historical day with a traditional afternoon coffee and an authentic Runeberg tart, baked according to tradition.
